Playa las Arenas / Cabanyal
This beach is neatly divided into 2 parts. The southern end of the beach is part of the city itself and is alive with activity and things to do. Promenades, restaurants and bars litter the edge and whenever there is an event or activity being held, it happens here. Valencia Bullfighting Tradition Alive and Well

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Bullfighting is very much alive and well in Valencia. Although no longer a regular event, it is still fairly popular and their are three seasons held during the year. It is a deeply traditional event in Spain and the events are often linked to religious dates during the year.

The Spring Season is held during Las Fallas in March and the Summer Season corresponds with the Feria de Julio in July. The Autumn Season is about to kick off as it takes place in October. Very much a ritualized tradition in Spain, bull fighting is ingrained in Spanish culture. The Torreros (the bull fighters themselves) enjoy the same status as a football player does in other parts of the world. Fame and fortune are bestowed upon them with endorsements from companies and plenty of press coverage.
