Nadal’s apparent inclination for wearing trousers that are one size too small is almost as well known as his exceptional skills on the tennis court. Fortunately Nadal can list being able to laugh at himself as another attribute, something that was recently put to the test in Mallorca.

A gala was held in Palma to honour all of the Balearic Islands’ Olympic medal winners. Being the newest Olympic tennis champion meant of course Nadal (who also won Wimbledon earlier in the year) was in attendance. During a routine photo shoot the inner seams of his trousers suddenly burst open much to the amusement of all those around him. Fortunatley Nadal too saw the funny side, and hastily tied his jacket around his waste to preserve his modesty.

The Balearic Port Authority has agreed to the installation of almost 1000 new moorings within the ports and marinas that it currently oversees across the Balearic islands.

The aim of the new births is to ensure that the cases of illegal moorings are reduced which only serve to have a negative effect on the environment by damaging local flora and fauna. There have been many reports of illegal births throughout the region over the past few months and these new measures are hoped to stamp this out once and for all.
